What this is

A Very Distant Perspective is a podcast from Polarity Lab. Each episode is a long, unhurried conversation with one person about their life, their work, and the things they actually think about when nobody is watching.

Why it exists

Polarity Lab studies Conversational Connectomics (CCX), a framework for measuring how a person's mind organizes knowledge from how they speak. AVDP is the public face of that research. Every episode generates hours of naturalistic dialogue. We use it to build cognitive profiles, predict who would have a good conversation with whom, and train a chat model on the way our guests actually talk.

What you can do here

• Listen and read. Every episode page has the full conversation transcribed and the audio embedded.
• See the science. With an invite code, every guest's CCX profile is visible (their cognitive fingerprint, their dominant states, the concepts most strongly linked in their mind).
• Talk to AVDP. The chat surface runs a model fine-tuned on the AVDP corpus. It speaks the way our guests actually speak.
